Lanyard ("Lanyard", "we", "us", or "our") operates this website and the practice assessment waitlist. We are based in the United Kingdom.

2. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our website, request a practice assessment, or join our waitlist. It is written for visitors in the UK and European Economic Area and reflects the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
3. Personal data we collect
When you submit the practice assessment form, we collect:
- your work email address;
- the audience type you select on the site (for example, managing partner, marketing & BD, or practice manager).
We do not currently store waitlist submissions in our own database. Your details are processed to send emails through our email provider and are retained in our email systems.
When you browse the site, we may also process limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited. Our hosting provider may generate server logs for security and reliability.
If you use the theme toggle, your light or dark mode preference is stored locally in your browser (local storage). We do not receive that preference on our servers.
4. How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- receive and review your practice assessment request;
- send you a confirmation email and follow up about Lanyard;
- understand interest by firm role so we can prioritise outreach;
- operate, secure, and improve this website.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your waitlist details for unrelated marketing without a lawful basis.
5. Lawful bases for processing
Under UK/EU GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent — when you submit the waitlist form, you consent to us contacting you about Lanyard and processing your email for that purpose. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to your request, maintain website security, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate interest in our product. We balance these interests against your rights.
6. Who we share data with
We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Resend — sends transactional emails, including waitlist notifications and confirmations.
- Vercel — hosts this website and may process technical logs.
- Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google when you visit the site. Your browser may send technical data to Google in that process.
These providers act as processors under data processing terms. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
7. International transfers
Some providers we use are based outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent mechanisms offered by our providers.
8. How long we keep data
We keep waitlist data only for as long as needed to contact you about Lanyard, manage your request, and maintain a record of our communications. Unless you ask us to delete it sooner, we generally retain waitlist details for up to 24 months after our last meaningful contact with you, then delete or anonymise them.
Server logs and similar technical records are kept for shorter periods consistent with security and hosting practices.
9. Your rights
If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use non-essential analytics or advertising cookies on this site today. Essential cookies may be set by our hosting infrastructure where required for security or delivery.
As noted above, theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage. You can clear it through your browser settings.
11. Children
Lanyard is aimed at professional services firms and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes affecting waitlist data, we will take reasonable steps to notify you where appropriate.
